Highlights of the Staging Rules (8th Edition)

Gress provides an introduction to Chapter One of the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual, Eighth Edition and its new user friendly format. She discusses improvements and updates, including the rules that were put in place to ensure each staging classification has complete information. She also identifies the major changes between the seventh and eighth editions.

Donna Gress is the Manager, Cancer Staging and Registry Operations for the AJCC and Cancer Programs, American College of Surgeons. She was the Technical Editor of the AJCC Cancer Staging Manual 8th Edition, lead author of the manual’s Chapter 1 Principles of Cancer Staging, and an author of AJCC Version 9 Cervix Uteri. Gress is an NCRA past president and has received the NCRA Distinguished Member Award and the NCRA Educational Achievement Award. Most recently, she served as an editor of the textbook, Cancer Registry Management Principles and Practices for Hospitals and Central Registries, Fourth Edition.
