2019 NCRA Conference Encore Session: Coding Genetics via SSDIs

Genetic testing allows physicians to target specific genes to provide information on histologic types and determine more appropriate treatments. Other genetic studies can indicate outcomes. Beginning with the Collaborative Stage system in 2004, the cancer registry started to collect some of these genetic markers in Site-Specific Factors (SSFs), which are now Site-Specific Data Items (SSDIs). Jennifer Ruhl, MSHCA, RHIT, CCS, CTR provides information about genetic testing and the relevance for the cancer registry community. In addition, specific SSDIs will be reviewed and their genetic relevance explained.
