Abstracting & Coding: Registrar Data for Benign and Borderline CNS Tumors

The Brain Tumor Epidemiology Consortium (BTEC) is a broad organization involved in global cancer registration of brain and other CNS tumors. Carol Kruchko will moderate a multi-disciplinary panel from the BTEC who will provide an overview of benign and borderline CNS tumors and present examples, such as craniopharyngioma. The panelists will discuss how particular diagnostic descriptions should be coded, using ICD-O-3, and will provide both the clinical and research perspective to illustrate how the histology data groupings that cancer registrars provide are reported and how they contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of CNS tumors.

Learning Objectives:

  • Better understand histology and data groupings for reporting benign and borderline CNS tumors.
  • Understand the diagnosis and treatment processes for CNS tumors.
  •  Discuss coding the diagnostics of CNS tumors.
