NCRA’s Central Registry Badge Program

NCRA’s Knowledge-Based Central Registry Badge has been designed to help hospital registrars understand the general operations and responsibilities of a central registry. It is ideal for registrars interested in transitioning from working at a facility to working at a central registry. The course has four core competencies with related assessments. Candidates must pass the four assessments to earn the completion certificate and digital badge. The four core competencies include Purpose of Central Cancer Registries, Central Registry Software, Ensuring Data Quality, and Central Registry Data Use. Earn six (6) CE hours upon successful completion of this program. Partial credit is not available. The enrollment period for this activity is 180 days.

Learning Objectives

  •  Understand the purpose of central registries and how they differ from hospital registries. Central registry certifications are reviewed and fact sheets on the disease process of common cancers are presented.
  •  Review the software and data management systems used at central registries. Applications, interoperability, and standards are highlighted.
  •  Learn how to ensure data quality at the central registry through a detailed review of hospital edits, data edits, death clearance, and consolidation.
  •   Exam the data linkages performed by a central registry and understand how central registry data are used to improve public health.
