Abstracting & Coding: Lung

Janet Vogel will discuss the complex anatomical site of the lung and explain what is involved in the clinical and pathological staging workup; T, N, M categories; and the prognostic stage group. She will provide guidance on coding surgical procedures and treatment modalities for the site. Additionally, Vogel will address lung cancer histology and the association to other anatomical sites and SSDIs.

• Discuss the nuances and complexity of assigning the correct codes in various case scenarios.
• Identify various resources available to the cancer registrar and how to apply that knowledge when abstracting.
• Review tips for more efficient abstracting.
