Abstracting & Coding: Radiation in the Abstract

Gina McNellis will discuss conflicts between the CTR Guide to Coding Radiation Therapy Treatment in the STORE and the STORE rules when coding the volume of radiation should the primary site be removed, and when radiation is being given to the tumor bed. She will also address when it is appropriate to add phases to the total dose and the different volumes of radiation for breast and prostate treatment.

She is an adjunct instructor in the Cancer Registry Management Program at the NCRA-accredited program offered by the University of Cincinnati, Clermont. She has been a Health Information Management professional for over 29 years in a diverse group of institutions and roles. McNellis received a BS in Health Record Administration and a Masters’ degree in Health Information Management from College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN.
