Live Webinar 1: Introduction to Genetics and the Nomenclature for Cancer Registrars (2025)

Gillian Howell, PhD, ODS-C will provide an advanced introduction to genetics for cancer registrars with the goal of advancing knowledge and understanding of the role genetics plays in cancer data and cancer surveillance. Gillian will address the information contained in the genetic code and discuss types of gene mutations and how they can influence treatment decisions and patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
- Review the definition of the genetic code.
- Provide information on the roles of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes.
- Illustrate the role of genetics in cancer metastasis.
