Core Competency 4: Registry Organization, Follow-Up, and Data Quality Assurance (Updated 7.2025)

Registry Organization, Follow-Up, and Data Quality Assurance practicum activities focus on the review of standard setters and standards, information systems, registry policies and procedures, legislation, and healthcare practices, including HIPAA. Data Quality Assurance is a critical aspect of cancer registry operations. To that end, the practicum activities review how to develop and maintain quality control plans, review of the types of audits to ensure quality, and how to use text fields to assess of coded data.
