Understand Prostate Cancer for Accurate Abstracting (2026)
Breana Norton, BA, ODS-C will provide an overview of the anatomy and histology of the prostate as it relates to prostate cancer. This information will lay the foundation to discuss coding EOD and staging for prostate cancer. Utilizing anatomy knowledge, CAP protocols, and NCCN guidelines to code prostate SSDIs accurately will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain an increased perspective of the anatomy and histology of the prostate as it relates to prostate cancer.
- Build confidence in coding EOD and staging for prostate cases by taking a deep dive into the anatomy and structures surrounding the prostate.
- Review the SSDIs used for prostate cases and utilize anatomy, as well as the CAP protocol and NCCN guidelines, to gain a better understanding of them.
