Live Webinar 1: Abstracting & Coding: Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma (LCNEC) of the Lung
Wednesday, October 21, 2026, 2:00pm - 3:00pm ET.
Farzana Salimi, MPH, ODS-C will provide a comprehensive overview of Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma (LCNEC) of the lung, including its defining features, epidemiology, risk factors, and diagnostic evaluation. She will review the appropriate histology codes, key diagnostic markers, and essential staging concepts using both AJCC TNM and SEER Summary Stage systems. Farzana will also highlight common coding challenges and pitfalls specific to LCNEC and lung primaries and reinforce accurate coding practices.
Learning Objectives:
- Define Large Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma (LCNEC) of the lung and its key characteristics.
- Review the epidemiology, risk factors, and diagnostic workup for LCNEC.
- Identify the correct ICD-O-3 histology codes and common diagnostic markers.
- Discuss the principles of AJCC TNM staging and SEER Summary Staging for LCNEC.
- Identify and avoid the most common coding pitfalls specific to LCNEC and the lung primary site.
- Apply coding principles through case-based scenarios and knowledge-check exercise.
