Abstracting and Coding: Site-Specific Data Items and Updates (2025)

The presenters will provide information about the organization of Site-Specific Data Items (SSDIs) in the latest Site-Specific Data Item (SSDI) Manual, which is using primary site groupings and presented in the order used in the AJCC manuals. They will also review the most recent SSDI updates.

Instructors

Jennifer Ruhl, MSHCA, RHIT, CCS, ODS Instructor

Jennifer Ruhl is a Public Health Analyst and member of the Data Quality Team in the Quality Control section of the NCI-SEER program. She is responsible for identifying needs, setting priorities, and managing projects related to data collection and procedure manuals, while working with and assisting the SEER registries and collaborating with other standard setters to develop new data collection programs and methods. Ruhl is also the team lead for EOD, Summary Stage, the Hematopoietic Manual and Database. Since 2016, she has been the chair of the Site-Specific Data Items (SSDI) work group at NAACCR and has been instrumental in developing the data items and managing the SSDI manual.
